LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Hundreds of volunteers worked to beautify schools around Louisville ahead of the start of school.

Northeast Christian Church’s Love the Ville Outreach program has been around for a decade. Nine years ago, it started its largest day of service, their annual School Blitz.

On Sunday, around 800 volunteers pulled weeds, spread mulch, trimmed bushes and sorted books for 34 campuses in Jefferson and Oldham counties.

“We know that every student at JCPS, every student everywhere, Oldham County, all the students, deserve to come to a campus that they can feel proud of that starts their day in a place that makes them feel welcome, at home, proud, safe,” said Amy Strite, principal at Barret Middle School.

Love the Ville impacts JCPS schools year-round throughout school pantries, prom projects, sports ministry and more.
