Facing an 0-10 start to the season, the Western Christian High School girls’ basketball team has turned things around to the tune of a modest three-game win streak.
The latest of those wins came at Sioux City North High School on Friday night, where Western Christian beat the Stars on their home court, xx-xx, in a non-conference game.
Western was even playing short-handed as the team is without seniors Scarlett Winterfeld and Maggie Van Schepen.
Still, Western (3-10) used its size and strength in the post to score the bulk of its points.
Both sides found points hard to come by in the early minutes of the contest, but the Wolfpack received a spark off the bench in the form of 6-foot freshman Morgan Kooiman.
Kooiman entered the game midway through the first quarter and made five shots on as many attempts and grabbed three rebounds.
Then senior Makenna Fedders took over the post.
