The recent postponed attempt to terminate MSCS Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins has sparked significant backlash from community leaders amid concerns over finances.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Parents, teachers, and faith leaders all responding to a failed attempt to oust MSCS Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins on Tuesday, Dec. 17. 

“I think there was definitely a way to have more structure, but like I said, righteous rage,” said Brittney Sessoms, an MSCS parent.

Pastor Walter Womack, President of the Memphis Southern Christian Leadership Conference (MSCLC), continued, “I really think this is something that could have been worked out before it got to this point.”    

The Monday night announcement that board members would be voting to terminate Feagins on Tuesday was met with significant backlash, despite some support.
