Advocates urge Auburn School Committee to raise wages [Video]

School has been in session for more than two months now, but some educators say they’re still fighting for contracts for the current year.Auburn educators and advocates spent Wednesday night fighting for better wages for Ed Techs and secretaries after last being at the bargaining table over a month ago.The Auburn Education Association said education support staff are critical in providing quality education, but their salaries are not keeping up with the rising cost of living.“It’s a great place to work,” said Warren Leunig, one of the vice presidents of the Auburn Education Association, “The people that leave because of pay, it’s like, they’re disappointed cause they don’t want to have to do that, they love working here, but they just got to make the choice that’s right for them, for their family.” Dozens attended Wednesday night’s meeting, and many spoke to the committee, asking for them to invest more …
