Americans hopeful inflation will ease under Trump [Video]

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – As Americans feel the pinch of inflation and high interest rates, some are hopeful President-Elect Trump can deliver on campaign promises to impact the economy positively.

Christian Clausen, a certified financial planner with Burns Estate Planning and Wealth, said elections have less impact on the market than people think.

“The president or the people trying to become president, they have 100 things they are running on,” Clausen said. “When we look at it, there is only about 10 or 15% of what they want to come into effect. It has to go through the House, and it has to go through the Senate.”

Trump campaigned for tax cuts and new tariffs on imports from China and other countries. Clausen said while consumers are ready to see the price of goods go down, inflation is hard to tackle.
