Evangelical Conservatives celebrate policy wins on abortion, education at FAMiLY Leadership Summit [Video]

DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Television Iowa Capitol Bureau) – Friday around 1,000 evangelical conservatives celebrated policy wins at the state level.

The annual FAMiLY Leadership Summit encourages Christians to get involved with government and advocate for policy they deem as righteous.

Chuck Hurley, a lobbyist for the organization praises the restrictive abortion law passed by Iowa Republicans, but says the state needs to do more. “So while we’ve made great strides in protecting the most innocent among us, we aren’t done. 14 states now protect babies from the moment of conception, and Iowa should be the 15th,” Hurley said.

That could mean a complete ban on all abortions, regardless of the circumstances. Critics say that it could also threaten the right to use contraception or fertility treatments.
