Harvest Festival helps eliminate school lunch debts [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The leaves have been changing and fall activities have been kicking off across the state, including one on Saturday that took in the season and helped those in need.

St. John American Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls held a Harvest Festival that included a silent auction and a bake sale.

Most importantly, all funds raised went towards Hayward and Garfield Elementary Schools to eliminate school lunch debts.

“We have individuals that have been part of our congregation that go to Garfield Elementary and that’s just up the road from us. But they also attend Hayward Elementary and we do ministry through Nightwatch and distribute meals through that. We were just looking for another way to give back to those kids in the community,” said event organizer Sara Sommers.
