Independence Towers goes five days without hot water [Video]

The 110 tenants currently living at Independence Towers, 278 N. Jennings Road, received a paper notice Friday stating the complex was “experiencing an issue with the hot water supply.” Tenant Diasha White said it has now been five days with no hot water in her apartment. “We hadn’t had a bath in days,” White said. “I heated up water on the stove so my daughter could wash a little bit.” White said this is the fifth water outage since March 2024 in the complex, and she said it is just one of an ever-growing list of apartment problems. “While I was heating up the water, my stove caught fire. It’s electric and two of the burners don’t work. Now, the apartment smells like smoke,” White said. The culprit for the hot water outage is a broken water heater.
