Jackson County legislators amended a stadium sales tax measure that could go to voters in November, aiming to keep the Chiefs in the county.The legislature amended the proposal during a meeting with a 5-4 vote, leaving the possible proposal as a 20-year extension with the sales tax reduced to one-quarter cent.”I think it’s about having folks at the table truly negotiating in good faith and not just sitting there,” said Jackson County Legislator Manny Abarca.Legislators still need to vote on the measure next week to get it on the November ballot.In order for it to appear on the ballot, any ballot question would need to be approved by Aug. 27, which is the deadline on the Missouri side.There is just one more regularly scheduled meeting of the Jackson County Legislature prior to that deadline.Abarca emphasized the need to stay competitive with Kansas.
