Memphis mayor meets with local religious leaders to discuss citys future [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis Mayor Paul Young and the city’s Director of Community Affairs Reginald Boyce met with local faith leaders Monday for the “Own Your Own Block” faith-based gathering initiative.

The event was held at the Cannon Center in Downtown Memphis.

Organizers say the goal is “to unite the community in creating a cleaner, safer, and more investible Memphis.”

City leaders hope by partnering with faith leaders, they can help address key challenges within the city.

“In order to address the challenges we have in our city,” said Mayor Young, “it’s going to take each and every one of us doing our part collectively together to have the impact that we know is necessary to get the change that we need.”
