The first base market has been quite intriguing to follow this winter. Pete Alonso and Christian Walker were always seen as the top two options on the market. The Houston Astros scooped up Walker on a three-year deal. As of Monday morning, Alonso remains unsigned.
The New York Yankees went and grabbed Paul Goldschmidt in free agency. The Cleveland Guardians traded Josh Naylor to the Arizona Diamondbacks before signing Carlos Santana for themselves. The Washington Nationals, once seen as a suitor for Alonso, traded for Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe.
