EUGENE, Ore. – The faith-based non-profit Neighbors Feeding Neighbors (NFN) held a press conference on January 28 to address a back-and-forth disagreement with the City of Eugene that’s been going on since 2024.
Now, they hired a lawyer and threatening legal action against Eugene.
According to an open letter from Matthew Watkins, NFN’s recently hired attorney, the city of Eugene commenced “activities meant to undermine, limit, or restrict the work of NFN” since 2024.
Watkins went on to say NFN — which feeds people in need of warm food in Washington Jefferson park every Wednesday through Saturday morning — is protected under Article I, sections 2, 3 and 26 of the Oregon constitution and the First Amendment of the …
