An Irish landlord, now living in Mexico, has been subject to a judgment of almost €1m from the Revenue after under-declaring his income tax, writes Helen Bruce.

This included €402,946 in tax, €245,874 in interest and €302,209 in penalties.

Revenue’s published judgment shows that €873,294 of this remains unpaid as of March 31.

His was the largest settlement from the latest list of defaulters between January and March 31 this year, with the amount agreed for these published cases coming to just over €4m.

Eleven of the cases exceeded €100,000, and four topped €500,000.

A dog breeder made a settlement of €108,155 for under-declaring tax and VAT.
