Sanford, Maine, reduces number of polling places for Election Day [Video]

The Sanford City Council has voted to reduce the number of voting locations in the Maine city for this fall’s general election from three to one.Starting with the Nov. 5 election, people who live in the city of Sanford and the village of Springvale will vote at Sanford High School and Regional Technical Center, which is located at 100 Alumni Blvd. in Sanford.Sanford High School was the former Ward 3 voting location. The other polling places at the Nasson Community Center gym (Ward 1) and Sanford Christian Academy Riverside Campus (Ward 2) will not be operational for the November election.The City Council held a public hearing on the issue during its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6, before voting 5-2 to consolidate the polling places.City officials claimed the consolidation will prevent any confusion about which polling location voters should be going to, and ensure that voters will receive the …
