Spokane City Council seeks community input on upcoming homelessness ordinances [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane City Council has postponed several ordinances about homelessness to review the policies more thoroughly. The Council plans to gather input from various groups to improve these policies.

According to a press release from Spokane City Council, they will hold roundtable discussions with community members, service providers, business owners, faith-based groups and people with firsthand experience of homelessness. These meetings aim to gather feedback and ideas before finalizing the ordinances.

After these discussions, the Council said they will host an open forum to share what they’ve learned and discuss potential solutions.

The Council is asking interested community members to fill out a survey to help shape these discussions.

“As a City, our issues are complex so the solutions will be just as complex,” said Council President Betsy Wilkerson. “Therefore, it is important to hear from the community to gain a comprehensive understanding of how to address homelessness.”
