WYANDOTTE COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – On August 15, The Unified Government (UG) of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas Board of Commissioners is set to vote on the 2025 budget, leaving mixed reviews on whether or not it will work.
In June, Commissioners voted to not exceed revenue neutral for Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.
Not exceeding revenue neutral means the money Wyandotte County and KCK take from property taxes is frozen for 2025.
“Not a property tax cut, it is a budget cut, that is what revenue neutral is,” said Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas 3rd District Commissioner, Christian Ramirez.
This means taxpayers will pay the same property tax this year and next year, leaving the same amount of money for the County and City to take from for 2024 and 2025, they won’t get an increase.
The budget is over $472 million combined for KCK and Wyandotte County.
