Sis, when I wrote my first book in 2009, I made zero sales. I remember being so excited to list it for sale on Amazon.com. I honestly thought that as soon as it was available on the platform, millions of people with magically wake up and say “I need to buy that new Stephanie Rodnez book.”

Ha!

Now I know this may sound crazy, but if you’re like me, let’s be honest here. You may think God is going to do your marketing for you. You may think that it’s your job to write the book, and that it’s God’s job to sell it to people.

In 2009, I thought the same thing too.

But here’s the thing sis. When we look at the fall of man in Genesis, we hear loud and clear from the Lord that while we still get to eat the fruit, it’s by the sweat of our brow that we’ll get to it.

And guess what marketing is? It’s that sweat of our brow (lol).

As you work on your book, remember it’s just as important to do your marketing as it is to do your writing. You have an amazing solution that’s going to help people solve their problems, but the only way they’ll solve it is if you tell them about the book.

That’s all marketing is.
